EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing)

EMDR is a gentle, evidence‑based therapy that helps the brain process difficult or overwhelming experiences so they no longer feel as distressing. It supports the nervous system in moving from “stuck” to more grounded and settled.

I offer EMDR for children, young people, adults, and animals, adapting the approach carefully to each individual’s needs, pace, and nervous system.

My work is calm, attuned, and trauma‑informed. You are never rushed, and every step is explained clearly so you feel safe and in control throughout.

How EMDR works

Processing Safely

EMDR helps the brain reprocess memories that feel “stuck,” reducing distress and allowing you to feel more grounded and emotionally steady.

Gentle and Paced

We move slowly, with clear explanations and choice at every stage. You decide what feels right.

What EMDR can help with

EMDR can support people experiencing:

  • Trauma and PTSD

  • Anxiety or panic

  • Grief and loss

  • Childhood trauma

  • Difficult memories or events

  • Phobias

  • Stress after accidents, medical procedures, or frightening experiences

  • Emotional overwhelm

  • Hidden harm or family‑related trauma

EMDR for Children and Young People

EMDR for children and young people is gentle, playful, and adapted to their age and nervous system.
Sessions move at their pace, using creative tools, grounding, and clear explanations so they always feel safe and understood.
It can help with anxiety, trauma, overwhelm, school‑related stress, or difficult memories — supporting them to feel more settled and confident.

EMDR for Adults

EMDR for adults offers a calm, structured way to process trauma, grief, or overwhelming experiences.
We work slowly, with choice at every step, helping your brain move from “stuck” to more grounded and steady.
Many adults find EMDR helpful for childhood trauma, sudden loss, anxiety, intrusive memories, or emotional overwhelm.

EMDR for Animals

My work with animals is a very gentle, basic level of EMDR‑informed soothing. It is not full clinical EMDR, and I do not work with extreme trauma cases. Instead, I offer a soft, calming approach that uses simple, adapted bilateral stimulation and attuned presence to help animals feel a little safer and more settled.

This can support mild concerns such as noise sensitivity, separation distress, rescue‑related worry, or animals who have experienced unsettling or confusing events. Sessions move entirely at the animal’s pace, with careful observation of their cues and clear guidance for guardians on how to continue gentle soothing at home.

You are always in control — nothing is rushed, and you choose what feels right.
EMDR uses bilateral stimulation (eye movements, tapping, or sound) to help the brain process difficult experiences in a safe, supported way.

Further Questions

It’s completely normal to have questions about EMDR.
We can talk through anything you’re unsure about — how EMDR works, how it feels, how long it takes, or whether it’s right for you.
You’re welcome to ask anything, and we’ll explore it gently together.

Beyond the ordinary

My approach is gentle, safe, and deeply attuned. Many people come to me after feeling stuck elsewhere, and together we find a way forward that feels manageable, compassionate, and empowering.
